Computer doesn't recognize USB SATA SSD HD. Hmmm?.

I have a SATA SSD Transcend 64GB disk that I put in an external box that uses USB. When I attach to my computer, windoes makes the typical sound that a USB device was attached. On the bar tasks he then said USB device found Unforutnately so when I find the drive in Windows Explorer, it doesn't show up. I am running Windows XP on an HP Mini 1000. Everything been completely updated. Any idea why this happens? Thank you
